Biggby Coffee in Gaylord just celebrated a hallmark event; passing the three year mark in business since establishing the bistro on the northwest corner of I-75 and Main street back on June 25th, 2007.  Since that time, a lot of tantalizing hot and cold beverages, as well as tasty food items, have been served, and countless friends and business associates have gathered to relax and converse in the comfortable facility, and perhaps utilize the convenient WiFi internet service using their laptop computers.

“We focus on our customer’s total experience here at Biggby Coffee,” notes Gaylord location franchise owner, Nick Spadafore, “not just the great cup of coffee or latte that they stop by our establishment to order.”

Biggby Coffee’s parent company was established in 1995 in the East Lansing, Michigan area.  Since then, the company has grown to include over 100 franchise locations throughout the Midwest and southeastern United States.

As the Gaylord franchise enters their fourth year serving local residents and visitors to northern Michigan, Biggby Coffee is expanding their menu.  Augmenting such delicious items as an array of coffee and non-coffee drinks (check out the fourteen Crème Freeze smoothie flavors) scones, bagels, muffins, doughnuts, cookies granola, fruit cups, parfaits and more, Biggby now has three new “Bragels;” warmed bagels stuffed with deli meats and cheeses guaranteed to satisfy hunger urges at any time of the day.

“Currently we have a Beef and Cheddar Asiago Bragel, “notes Spadafore, “a Ham & Cheese Bragel, and a Turkey Havarti Bragel.  We also offer nearly any beverage hot, spiced of frozen. So someone’s favorite hot latte in the winter can be prepared over ice or frozen in the summer.”

For anyone who has tasted the lip-smacking hot and cold beverages offered at the Gaylord Biggby Coffee location, relaxed in the comfortable atmosphere, and enjoyed the friendly “big smile” attitudes of the Barista’s who go above and beyond in providing excellent customer service, it is no surprise that the establishment was recently honored with the 2009 “Biggby Cup Franchise of the Year” award.

“The award is based on several categories,” notes Nick Spadafore, “including performance, growth, involvement in the community, staff enthusiasm and customer feedback.  Our receiving this award is the result of a complete team effort.”

The Biggby team is also very active in supporting community organizations and events, such as Relay for Life, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Michigan Special Olympics, Polar Plunge, and Hospice of Michigan.  Nick Spadafore notes that the Biggby Gaylord location recently experienced its best sales month ever, growth he credits to an improving economy, the unique franchise location that draws customers traveling to enjoy northern Michigan, and a very supportive local clientele.

He states, “I have also been blessed with having a great group of Barista’s (Biggby employees); we have very little turn-over at this location, with four individuals having worked here since we opened.  I can’t say enough good things about our staff.”

“Nick encourages the Barista’s to express our personalities and interact with our customers,” notes Diane Duff, who has been with the Gaylord franchise since it opened.  “People enjoy the Biggby experience…we create new customers everyday.”

Biggby Coffee is located at 1004 W. Main Street in Gaylord, (just west of the I-75/M-32 interchange).  (989) 732-9809
