BIGGBY COFFEE SAILS NORTH TO MACKINAC ISLAND

Island Coffee Shop, J.L.  Beanery, to offer BIGGBY COFFEE starting May 13

MACKINAC ISLAND, Mich., May 12, 2011 – BIGGBY COFFEE has set sail! The Michigan-based gourmet coffee retailer has traveled Lake Huron and found a new home on Michigan’s popular summertime destination spot: Mackinac Island!

Starting Friday, May 13th, the island’s popular lake-front coffee shop, J.L Beanery, will begin serving up BIGGBY’s signature, hand crafted beverages along with its brewed coffee, teas, frozen drinks and smoothies.

J.L Beanery owners, Jason and Suzanne Klonowski said they first fell in love with BIGGBY COFFEE in Brighton, MI, where they live during the winter months. Upon, purchasing J.L. Beanery in 2007, Jason said it was simply the great tasting drinks and the company’s reputation that set it apart from other coffee retailers.

“BIGGBY is known for constantly producing a great tasting product that a lot of people in Michigan can identify with,” Klonowski said. “The drinks are fun, easy to order and there is something for everyone, including non-coffee drinkers.”

The shop, which is open from 8a.m. to 5 p.m. week-days and 7a.m. to 5p.m. on weekends, will extend its house as tourism season picks up and will remain open through October. They will also offer specials throughout the summer including their “Mug Club,” which features brewed coffee refills at a reduced price.

“We are expecting a great response from our customers and are looking forward to seeing BIGGBY COFFEE cups around the Island,” Klonowski said. “Mackinac is a vacation spot for a lot of people, so I think BIGGBY will only add to their experience here.”

J.L. Beanery will continue to offer their own food menu with breakfast, lunch and dinner options.

About BIGGBY COFFEE®

East Lansing, Mich.-based BIGGBY® COFFEE opened a single store in March of 1995 based on the founding principle that coffee-lovers and the coffee-curious alike would benefit from a less pretentious approach to the standard gourmet café paradigm. BIGGBY COFFEE introduced connoisseur-worthy drinks with pronounceable names like Teddy Bear and Caramel Marvel, and barista staff surprised guests with simple gestures like free kazoos and bouncy balls for no other reason than to brighten their day. The “Big ‘B’” on the orange background caught on, and today BIGGBY COFFEE has 131 cafes open or under contract across six states including: Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, South Carolina, Wisconsin and Texas.  For more information, visit www.biggby.com.
